FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
City of Muskegon System Upgrade – Service Disruptions from Wednesday, October 30th to Monday, November 4th, 2024
The City of Muskegon will be upgrading our financial system from October 30th through November 4th, 2024. During this time, city offices will not be able to offer all of our regular services. Mainly, the city will be unable to process financial transactions. On Monday, November 4, 2024, all offices, except the City Clerk, will be closed to the public as we transition the system and undergo extensive training.
All election-related functions will continue as normal and are not related to this upgrade.
What You Should Know:
Limited Services: City Hall and the Department of Public Works (DPW) will be open, but many services typically offered will be unavailable. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding as we work to improve our system. Services that will be available include, but are not limited to: FOIA requests, release of evidence, park reservations, water/sewer maintenance requests, sanitation services, etc. On Monday, November 4, 2024, the only administrative services open to the public will be election functions.
Billing Adjustments: Due dates for water bills during the transition will be adjusted to avoid falling within the upgrade period.
Parking Tickets: Muskegon Police Department will not be charging late fees for parking tickets during the upgrade period.
Election Services: All election-related functions will continue as normal and are not related to this upgrade.
How We’re Keeping the Public Informed: Starting in early September, the city will begin awareness across multiple channels, including:
- Flyers at and around City buildings
- Social media platforms
- Billboards and digital signs
- Digital Newsletters
- City website calendar and banner
- Neighborhood associations
- Elected officials
- Local news channels
Although the upgrade is scheduled to be completed on November 4, 2024, please extend patience to staff as they learn and manage the new system. This will be a benefit and an increase in service to community members soon. If you have any questions or require further information, please contact City Hall at the information provided.
