August 2025 — Adam Tiefenbach
This month, we’re spotlighting Adam Tiefenbach, a Firefighter with the Muskegon Fire Department who’s been serving the City for 5.5 years!

As an apparatus operator, Adam’s main role is to safely drive and operate the fire engine during emergency calls. He and his crew also handle day-to-day maintenance of their station—everything from chores to lawn care and snow removal. Beyond emergency response, Adam is actively involved in community outreach, sharing fire prevention tips at local events and helping install smoke detectors in residents’ homes to keep families safe.

Adam’s path to the fire service started early. His dad was a paid-on-call firefighter for 30 years, so he grew up surrounded by the culture of service. In high school, he enrolled in Firefighter I & II training and never looked back. After graduation, he earned his Associate’s degree in Fire Science along with EMT certification, and applied persistently for career positions—finally landing with Muskegon during a competitive hiring period.

When he’s not on duty, Adam enjoys smoking meats on his backyard smoker, playing a few rounds of golf, and spending quality time with his wife and two kids.
