City of Muskegon Launches First-Ever Beach Shuttle Service for 2025 Summer Season
Muskegon, MI — May 15, 2025 — The City of Muskegon is proud to announce the launch of its first-ever beach shuttle service, debuting Memorial Day weekend and running through Labor Day 2025. Free to ride, the Beach Shuttle offers a stress-free way for residents and visitors to reach Muskegon’s award-winning beaches—without the parking headaches.
“This is an exciting step forward in improving access to our incredible shoreline,” said Deputy City Manager LeighAnn Mikesell. “Whether you’re heading to Pere Marquette, Harbour Towne, or exploring Lakeside, the Beach Shuttle makes it easier than ever to enjoy summer in Muskegon.”
Service Highlights:

When: Fridays and Saturdays from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM, and Sundays from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM

Where: Two shuttle lines will operate:

Blue Line: Smith-Ryerson Park, Morris Street Lot, Campbell Field Parking Lot, Grand Trunk Lot, and Indiana & Beach Street (the Flip Flop Stop)

Tan Line: 16 stops looping between Harbour Towne and Kruse Park

How Often: Shuttles will loop through their routes approximately 2 times per hour

How to Ride: Just hop on—no fare, no hassle. Track the Tan Line shuttle in real time by downloading the app or visiting matbus.com/mybus.
The city will collect feedback from riders throughout the summer to evaluate the shuttle’s impact and explore improvements for future seasons.
Don’t sweat the sand or the search for a spot—leave the car and catch the shuttle.
