City to Host Public Open House on 2026 Lakeshore Drive Reconstruction

The City of Muskegon invites residents, businesses, and visitors to attend a public open house on Monday, July 21, 2025, from 4–6 PM at Hagar’s Hideaway (3156 Lakeshore Dr) to learn about the upcoming Lakeshore Drive Rehabilitation Project.

Planned for March through November 2026, this project includes full repaving, utility upgrades, and a road redesign between Beach Street and Sherin Street. The section from Cottage Grove to Edgewater will be rebuilt to remove the underused lakeside parking lane—improving safety, calming traffic, and adding greenspace while maintaining three travel lanes.

To protect summer access to Lake Michigan, construction will pause between Memorial Day and Labor Day.

The open house will be an opportunity to meet with City staff, share feedback, and ask questions. Detailed design drawings will not be available yet, but your input will help shape the project’s implementation.
