Downtown Transformation Begins: Demolition Underway at 122 W Muskegon Avenue for New Harbor View Development

Exciting changes are taking place in the heart of Downtown Muskegon.

On Tuesday, May 21, demolition officially began at 122 W Muskegon Avenue, clearing the way for an exciting new chapter at the site of the former McDonald’s building. The upcoming project, known as Harbor View, will be a four-story residential development featuring 46 to 50 apartment units, bringing new energy and housing options to the downtown area.

While the project is being led by a private developer, the city’s Development Services team has been actively collaborating with the contractors to help move the effort forward and ensure a smooth redevelopment process.

Harbor View is part of the ongoing revitalization of Downtown Muskegon, where new development continues to breathe life into historic blocks and long-vacant spaces. The new apartments will add to the city’s growing residential offerings and support a more walkable, vibrant downtown core.

We’re excited to see this project take shape as this development represents continued momentum in making Downtown Muskegon a place where people want to live, gather, and invest.

As demolition progresses and construction begins, we look forward to the positive impact Harbor View will bring to the community. Stay tuned for updates as this exciting project continues to unfold.
