L.C. Walker Way Dedication

Join the City of Muskegon in commemorating a transformative moment in our community’s future at The Shaw Groundbreaking Celebration on Monday, June 9, 2025, at the site of the former Shaw-Walker Furniture Company.

This milestone redevelopment represents a significant step forward in revitalizing Muskegon’s urban core, and the City is proud to honor a historic figure whose legacy helped lay the foundation for this progress.

As part of the ceremony, the City will formally designate a portion of Western Avenue—from Division Street to Franklin Street—as L.C. Walker Way, in recognition of Louis Carlisle Walker, co-founder of Shaw-Walker. Mr. Walker’s visionary leadership and philanthropic contributions left a lasting impact on Muskegon’s cultural and economic growth.
