May 2025 — Kembly Brady

This month, we’re spotlighting Kembly Brady, Code Enforcement Officer in the Building Department!
As a Code Enforcement Officer, Kembly Brady plays a vital role in maintaining Muskegon’s neighborhoods. She inspects properties for yard, porch, and fence ordinance violations, working closely with residents to educate, support, and connect them with resources to correct issues. When necessary, she coordinates with contractors for cleanups or issues tickets, always aiming to find a solution before enforcement. In addition, Kembly trains the summer crew, manages contractor communication, attends court hearings, and oversees billing and ticket processing.
Kembly’s journey with the city started unexpectedly. While pursuing a degree in mathematics and elementary education, she needed a flexible summer job and found an opening in code enforcement. Despite having no experience, she embraced the challenge, learned quickly, and discovered a passion for helping improve the community. After two summers part-time, she chose to stay full-time, and more than ten years later, she is still making an impact by helping build and shape the city’s current code enforcement program.
Outside of work, Kembly loves adventure. She enjoys trying new foods, traveling to new places, and meeting new people. She also volunteers at her church, running the Sunday school program, and loves being outdoors hunting, fishing, hiking, gardening, and swimming.

If you see her around be sure to say hello!
