Muskegon National Night Out Expands to Connect Community
Muskegon, MI – The City of Muskegon in partnership with neighborhood associations are hosting one large National Night Out event to bring the community together. National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes strong police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live.
National Night Out will take place at the historic Marsh Field (1800 Peck St.) on Tuesday, August 6 from 6-8 P.M. The event will include free hotdogs for the first 500 attendees, food trucks, music, activities for all ages, community resources, raffle prizes and a homerun derby featuring police officers and firefighters.
Previously, the City of Muskegon celebrated National Night Out with individual neighborhood associations hosting their own events. This will be the first time one event is thrown for the entire community.
“We wanted to not only better connect the police department with the community, but we wanted to connect all of the City of Muskegon with each other,” said Tim Kozal, Director of Public Safety. “Having one large event will be able to create those social connections that play an important role in public safety.”
Free transportation will be provided by Pioneer Resources to ensure residents have access getting to and from the event. Learn more about the transportation services here. The City of Muskegon’s National Night Out is sponsored by Consumers Energy and Safebuilt.
