National Night Out Event to Connect Police and Community

August 4, 2025

The City of Muskegon Public Safety Division, in partnership with neighborhood associations, is hosting one large National Night Out event to bring the community together. National Night Out is a nationwide community-building campaign that promotes strong police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live.

National Night Out will take place at the historic Marsh Field (1800 Peck St.) on Tuesday, August 5 from 6-8 P.M. The event will include free hotdogs, over twenty-five community resources, music, activities for all ages, the Muskegon County Sheriff Department’s Polar Patrol ice creamtruck and a homerun derby featuring police officers and firefighters.

This is the second year the City of Muskegon Department of Public Safety is hosting one consolidated National Night Out event. Previously, the fifteen neighborhood associations hosted individual events.

“The Muskegon Department of Public Safety continues to build on our strong partnerships with our citizens,” said Tim Kozal, Director of Public Safety. “We are committed to fostering trust while collaborating with neighborhoods and community resources. Our National Night Out event is an example of our commitment to our community.”

The City of Muskegon’s National Night Out is sponsored by Consumers Energy, SAFEbuilt, and City of Muskegon Neighborhood Associations.
