New Fire Engine Arrival

May 14, 2025

The City of Muskegon is proud to welcome a brand-new fire engine—an approximately $1 million investment in public safety and emergency response.

This Spartan engine is set to hit the streets around Memorial Day, replacing Engine 25 at Station 5 (Marquette Ave). The current 2010 Engine 25 will move into reserve service and replace reserve Engine 21 at Station 4 (Lakeshore Station).

🛠️ What’s new with the new Engine 25?
✅ Ergonomic design to reduce slips and falls
✅ Color-coded lines and nozzles for faster, safer response

✅ 360° safety camera system that operates while driving

📸 The photos you see below show Green Shift loading equipment onto the new engine. The manufacturer will return soon to complete setup and provide in-depth training for our department before it officially goes into service.

🚨 Fun Fact: Fire engines serve on the front lines for 10–15 years before moving into backup duty. We’ll likely start planning for a new Engine 24 in about three years.

Stay safe, Muskegon—and if you see a shiny new red truck in your neighborhood, give our firefighters a wave! 👋❤️
