Public Notice | 122 W. Muskegon Ave Notice of Finding of No Significant Impact and Notice of Intent to Request Release of Funds

Summary:
The City of Muskegon plans to authorize a request for federal funding to support the construction of a four-story affordable housing project at 122 W. Muskegon Avenue. The project, estimated to cost $17 million, involves demolishing a vacant commercial building and replacing it with a 46-unit complex. Environmental challenges from historical contamination will be addressed through mitigation measures, including soil management and a vapor mitigation system.

The City has determined the project will not significantly impact the environment if mitigation measures are followed, eliminating the need for a full Environmental Impact Statement under NEPA. Public comments on the Environmental Review Record (ERR) are welcome and must be submitted by January 23, 2025.
