Spring 2025 Parks Highlights

March 27, 2025

The City of Muskegon Parks & Recreation Department is excited to welcome you back for another beautiful season of outdoor fun — and there’s plenty of new to explore this year!

Restrooms will soon start reopening across city parks as the weather warms up. Portable vault toilets remain available in the meantime at McGraft, Margaret Drake Elliot, Harbour Towne Beach, Smith-Ryerson, Beachwood, and Pere Marquette Parks for your convenience.

Check out our brand-new playgrounds!

We’ve recently added exciting new play structures at McGraft Park, St. Joseph Park, Joe Clifford Park, Sheldon Park, and McCrea Ballfield, with Smith-Ryerson Park coming soon. Bring the kids, test out the slides and swings, and enjoy fresh new spaces designed for fun.

Here are a few more seasonal highlights to add to your spring and summer bucket list:

  • McGraft Park and Beachwood Park: Great spots for walking, picnicking, and relaxing under the trees.
  • Margaret Drake Elliot Park: Offers scenic views perfect for walking, jogging, or simply enjoying nature.
  • Harbour Towne Beach: A peaceful beach destination ideal for shoreline strolls and soaking in Muskegon’s waterfront beauty.
  • Beachwood Park: A community favorite with picnic areas and trails, with neighborhood events coming soon.
  • Smith-Ryerson Park: Don’t miss the year-round Story Walk Storyboards hosted by Hackley Public Library — a fun, family-friendly way to read and roam outdoors.
  • Kruse Park: Still open for foot traffic and a favorite for dog walkers.

Get outside, explore, and enjoy everything Muskegon parks have to offer this season — from brand-new playgrounds to peaceful lakeside paths.
